The Post Graduate Students’ Society Environment Committee works with PGSS members, staff and executives on issues of environmental interest. The committee serves as a support system for post graduate students by monitoring PGSS’ policies about environmental issues, ensuring that post grads are represented on environmental committees and groups at McGill, and planning educational activities about important environmental issues for members of the PGSS. It also aims to make recommendations for the improvement of the PGSS’ operations in relation to the environment and create conversations and collaborations between post graduates and other environmental groups and offices at McGill.

So who’s on the committee anyway? The Environment Committee consists of an Environment Commissioner, five members-at-large, and the society’s representatives to The Senate Committee on Physical Development and the Sustainability Projects Fund. One of the PGSS’ most anticipated events is Green Drinks, which is usually held from 5 – 7pm in the Thomson House basement. Green Drinks, hosted in collaboration with Green Drinks Montreal, brings people together every month for presentations, discussions, and workshops related to environmental sustainability and management. Topics and speakers vary each month, and are selected in consultation with the PGSS community.
