Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) is recognized as a leading institution in its commitment to campus sustainability. The university’s 2010-2015 Strategic Plan calls for sustainability to be a guiding principle in all campus operations. In the past year, the university invested $46 million in energy conservation, launched a bike share program, shifted to single-stream recycling, designed a garden that cleans toxic waste, and created a new sustainable energy systems minor. The university was also chosen to create a new sustainable campus for a graduate science school in New York City.
