Federal budget revitalizes funding for Canadian research


The federal government announced a major injection of federal funds to support research in Tuesday’s 2018 budget. University leaders, researchers and students applauded the announcement, which includes nearly $1.7 billion in new money over five years for Canada’s research granting councils, along with $763 million for the Canada Foundation for Innovation.

RSC honours 14 McGill researchers and scholars


Today the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) announced 87 new Fellows, including 14 McGill researchers and scholars from five faculties and schools. In addition, McGill’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Suzanne Fortier, was named a Specially Elected Fellow. This new cohort joins the more than 150 McGill-affiliated Fellows inducted since 1966.
