Public wants more funding for university research


As Parliamentarians return to Ottawa, recent findings from an Abacus Data survey show that their constituents believe university research is vital for Canada to become a global leader in innovation, sustain local economies, and tackle the most pressing challenges of our time – issues like climate change, income inequality, infectious disease and human migration.

CFI invests $1.2 million to boost McGill research excellence

More than $1.2 million in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) was announced today for infrastructure to support 12 innovative research projects at McGill. Professor Nicole Li, from the Faculty of Medicine’s School of Communications Sciences and Disorders, is one of the McGill researchers who will benefit from this funding. Prof. Li’s team is developing computational models to treat voice afflictions.
