McGill hosts lacrosse’s 150th anniversary commemoration

Lacrosse is celebrating 150 years and to mark the occasion, a three-day commemoration was held at McGill over the weekend, with the centrepiece attraction in the form of two field lacrosse re-enactment contests played Saturday on the lower campus field.

There’s more to Montreal’s 375th and Canada’s 150th anniversaries than big parties. (But there are plenty of those.) Two upcoming events – a lacrosse festival and the submission of the Final Report of the Provost’s Task Force on Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Education – are offering clear-eyed critiques of the past in order to build a more inclusive future.
