Claudia Mitchell named Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Fellow


Earlier today, Claudia Mitchell, James McGill Professor in the Department of Integrated studies, was announced as one of the recipients of a prestigious Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Fellowship. Mitchell’s work in girlhood studies and participatory research has included major research sites in Ethiopia, South Africa and all over Canada.

Two ongoing research projects led by Professors Claudia Mitchell and Lisa Starr, of the Faculty of Education’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE), are helping to understand how women in Ethiopia can empower themselves to protect their human rights, and to benefit equitably from development in the country.

Claudia Mitchell wins SSHRC Gold Medal


The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) is recognizing the impact of Claudia Mitchell’s quarter-century of SSHRC-funded research and other achievements by awarding her the SSHRC Gold Medal, the agency’s highest honour.

RSC honours 14 McGill researchers and scholars


Today the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) announced 87 new Fellows, including 14 McGill researchers and scholars from five faculties and schools. In addition, McGill’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Suzanne Fortier, was named a Specially Elected Fellow. This new cohort joins the more than 150 McGill-affiliated Fellows inducted since 1966.
