Being bilingual may help children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Research

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) often have a hard time switching gears from one task to another. But being bilingual may actually make it a bit easier for them to do so, according to a new study which was recently published in Child Development.

Providing support for adults with autism

Research

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behaviour, that is generally detected in early childhood. Children with ASD are generally well supported during their school years, but few services exist once they reach adulthood, nor is there much research on what types of services are effective for adults with ASD. Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, read more about the transition support program for adults with ASD developed by McGill’s Dr. Aparna Nadig and Dr. Tara Flanagan.
