Vice-Principal, Administration and Finance Michael Di Grappa has announced the appointment of Cristiane Tinmouth, CPA, CA, as McGill’s Associate Vice-Principal, Financial Services effective March 1. Ms. Tinmouth replaces Marc Lemaire who left McGill in September 2015.

Ms. Tinmouth was appointed McGill’s Controller in 2008 with responsibility for all the University’s accounting records and systems. She is also Chair of the Pension Administration Committee’s Audit Committee since 2012 and member of the Pension Administration Committee since 2008.

She served as Interim Associate Vice-Principal, Financial Services from June 2014 to March 2015, following the departure of Albert Caponi for les Aéroports de Montréal, and from September 2015 to present. A search to find a permanent replacement to Mr. Lemaire began last fall.

“I’m delighted that Cris has agreed to take on these responsibilities on a permanent basis,” Di Grappa said. “She brings with her almost 30 years of experience in accounting, auditing and financial management. She is an important and valued member of the McGill community, who understands our academic and research mission, and I am confident that she will continue to make tremendous contributions to the overall success of McGill.

“Cris has played a major role in managing and finding solutions to the financial challenges we have faced in recent years, in an environment of reduced government funding. She was instrumental in the success of our recent $160-million bond issue designed to raise funding for our infrastructure and information technology needs.”

Tinmouth, who has been appointed to a five-year term ending in June 2021, graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (Honours). She completed her Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy at McGill University. She began her professional career at PriceWaterhouse Coopers and then moved on KPMG and, in 2002, was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Vivier Pharma Inc. in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

“I wish to congratulate Cris on her appointment and offer her my best wishes for continued success in her role as AVP,” Di Grappa said.

The Financial Services unit ensures the financial integrity and control of the University’s operations, according to its mission statement, including the safeguarding of assets while providing, Di Grappa said, “the highest quality service to our clients on a timely basis.”
