Thanks to a grant from McGill’s Rossy Cancer Network, Andrea Laizner, BScN’75, MSc(A)’81, Assistant Professor, Ingram School of Nursing, is overseeing the development of a French-language version of Start the Talk, an e-guide for educators and health care professionals to help increase emotional and psychological support for children of people living with cancer. Like its English counterpart, Parlons-en targets professionals living outside of urban centres. The series is a result of a partnership between the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO) and the de Souza Institute. As a CAPO member Laizner explains, it equips professionals with the latest available evidence so that they can feel better prepared to talk to—and empower—families.
