“Hopefully, we can beat the previous years’ classes,” said president of the Medicine Class of 2016, Pedram Mossallanejad, MDCM’16, at the February launch of their Senior Class Gift campaign in support of the Strategic Planning and Community Involvement Committee (SPCI).

The SCPCI provides resources for undergraduate medical students and groups seeking to engage in community-based initiatives.

There is a long tradition of such campaigns at McGill Med. What is novel is the use of crowdfunding and social media.

The Class was able to raise an impressive $5,540 on Seeds of Change, a Facebook- and Twitter-friendly crowdfunding platform for McGill students. This amount is being helped along by Alice Chan-Yip, MDCM’62, who has pledged a matching gift of up to $5,000.

Thank you to Dr. Chan-Yip and congratulations to our newest McGill doctors!

Alumni and friends who are interested in supporting the Medicine Class of 2017 with a challenge or matching gift for their upcoming Senior Class Gift campaign are invited to contact the Faculty University Advancement team at
