Nancy Ross, McGill’s Associate Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation, recently announced the appointment, effective April 1, 2020, of Dr. Carmen Loiselle as Dialogue McGill’s new Principal Investigator. Dr. Loiselle is Professor in the Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) and the Department of Oncology, as well as Program Director for psychosocial oncology and oncology nursing at McGill.

It is once again time to submit nominations for the Maude Abbott and Haile T. Debas prizes. The Maude Abbott Prize was established in 2010 by the Faculty of Medicine in order to recognize outstanding female faculty members who excel in Education, Research or Administration with a focus at the early career stage. The Haile T. Debas Prize, also created in 2010, recognizes a faculty member of any gender or ethnicity who helps to promote diversity. Please note that the deadline for submission of nominations is Friday, April 24, 2020.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dr. Keith Drummond on March 30, 2020 at the age of 88 years. A giant in the field of Pediatric Nephrology, Dr. Drummond was one of the founders of the specialty.

Dr. Regina Husa has been appointed to the position of Competency-based medical education (CBME) Lead, Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME), Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. Dr. Husa has been serving as Assistant Dean, Accreditation, PGME since January 2018 and will retain this position. In this new role, Dr. Husa will work closely with other Canadian postgraduate CBME leads at the national level to develop frameworks and implement strategies for CBME at our university and across Canada. She will also preside over the transition process to CBD for all specialty residency training programs at McGill.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Alba Guarné to the position of Associate Dean, Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University.
In this new role, Dr. Guarné reports directly to the Vice-Principal (Health Affairs)/Dean of Medicine, and is the overall academic leader for units that comprise the future School of Biomedical Sciences.
