The Faculty Council’s December 5, 2018 meeting minutes are now available online, together with the presentation and video. Among the topics covered during the Dec. 5 meeting were the McGill Cancer Consortium (MC2), presented by Dr. Morag Park, Director of the Goodman Cancer Research Centre. Also covered were McGill’s and the Faculty’s Bicentennial planning and the Ingram School of Nursing’s Centennial planning. Provost Christopher Manfredi addressed Council members near the end of the meeting.

The PGME Accreditation Committee is seeking 6 representative members, as described below. This committee is mandated to oversee the ongoing process of accreditation, as part of PGME’s approach to continuous quality improvement. The committee will meet at least 4 times per year. Additional meetings may be called in response to specific needs. The term of office for non ex-officio members is 3 years, renewable. Please note that the deadline for submissions is March 22, 2019.

It is once again time to submit nominations for the Maude Abbott and Haile T. Debas prizes. The Maude Abbott Prize was established in 2010 by the Faculty of Medicine in order to recognise outstanding female faculty members who excel in Education, Research or Administration with a focus at the early career stage. The Haile T. Debas Prize, also created in 2010, recognises a faculty member of any gender or ethnicity who helps to promote diversity. Please note that the deadline for submission of nominations is Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.

After our highly successful inaugural launch in 2017, we are delighted to announce the return of the McGill Faculty of Medicine Clinical Innovation Competition. This competition, the McGill CLIC, was inspired by Dr. Raymond Hakim with the goal of inspiring McGill Faculty members, learners and graduates to innovate to improve health care and outcomes. The deadline to submit is February 18, 2019.
