Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew, which wreaked massive destruction in Haiti in October 2016, Dr. Geoffroy Noel (Director, Division of Anatomical Sciences, Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology), enlisted the help of the 1st- and 2nd- year McGill Medicine students and of Assistant Professor Dr. Nicole Ventura to raise funds for those afflicted by the disaster.

After many pies in the face from many students, Dr. Noel was not only able to send a monetary contribution of $1500 with the funds raised by students from Medicine, Dentistry, and Physical & Occupational Therapy (P&OT), but he and the medical students also succeeded in amassing 15 boxes containing dry food, cans, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, gloves, and safe-seal bags to be sent to the country.

The value of the necessities collected was over $2000, with a total weight of 120 kg (265 lbs). In conjunction, a total of 1000 FFP2 protective masks were sent by the Kolmi Hopen Medicom company.

Special thanks go to McGill medical students Amanda Try, Liang Chen, and Morgane Laverdure for their passion and organization efforts, as well as Diandine Emile, Haitian medical student who coordinated the distribution of goods upon their arrival in Haiti. Congratulations to all who participated in this effort!
