Dr. Estelle Chétrit appointed Assistant Dean, MDCM Admission

Live 2019

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Estelle Chétrit as Assistant Dean, MDCM Admissions, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. Dr. Chétrit takes over from Dr. Ana Maria Sant’Anna, who has fulfilled this role with distinction since 2016. We take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Sant’Anna for her leadership during her mandate in this recently redefined position.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education, as Assistant Dean, MDCM Admissions, Dr. Chétrit will chair the MDCM Admissions Committee and establish and implement decisions related to admissions and candidate selection, in accordance with the Faculty’s mission and the MDCM Program Committee’s requirements. Her role will include designing, planning, implementing and evaluating the admissions selection process and advising the Office of Admissions regarding student recruitment.

Dr. Chétrit will collaborate with the Faculty’s Office of Admissions, the mandate of which is evolving to service all of the Faculty’s professional schools. She will ensure the MDCM Program selection and admissions processes are fair, transparent and accountable, and meet standards set by law, governmental decrees and accreditation bodies. She will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate with colleagues provincially and nationally on undergraduate medical admissions. Dr. Chétrit will contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives as part of her mandate, as well as engage in scholarly work related to admissions and candidate selection.

Dr. Chétrit earned her BSc in Anatomy and Cell Biology with a minor in Management from McGill, before obtaining her MDCM-MBA, also from McGill, in 2012. She remained at McGill to complete her pediatrics residency and is now a practising community-based pediatrician. Dr. Chétrit is also a part-time faculty lecturer (clinical) and Goldbloom Fellow in the Department of Pediatrics.

She has published research on the effectiveness of Quebec’s rotavirus vaccination program, is secretary of the Respiratory Health Section Executive of the Canadian Paediatric Society and a member of the Department of Pediatrics’ Task Force on Community Pediatrics.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Chétrit into her new role and in wishing her the utmost success.
