Dr. Mélanie Mondou appointed Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME)

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Mélanie Mondou to the position of Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME), Faculty of Medicine, McGill University.

Dr. Mondou, who is Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, McGill University and Geriatrician, Division of Geriatrics, Department of Medicine, McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), brings a wealth of relevant experience to her new role. Since 2016, she has been Clerkship Component Director for UGME, overseeing years 3 and 4 of the MDCM Program. Dr. Mondou has also designed and facilitated several interprofessional courses as part of the Office of Interprofessional Education, and is the UGME lead for interprofessional education.

Dr. Mondou was previously Chief, Service and Inpatient Unit (geriatrics) at the Montreal General Hospital and Director of the geriatric medicine clerkship course within UGME. She is actively involved in supervising geriatric medicine fellows, residents and medical students at geriatric medicine consultation services and ambulatory clinics at the MUHC.

A graduate of McGill’s MDCM Class of 2004, Dr. Mondou completed her residency in Internal Medicine and subspecialty training in Geriatrics at McGill, which she followed with a Master of Health Professions Education at Maastricht University, in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Dr. Mondou’s research interests include geriatrics, medical education, patient-centred care and interprofessionalism.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, UGME, Dr. Mondou will assist in the development, implementation and delivery of the undergraduate medical education program. In addition to helping to create policies and procedures aimed at ensuring the quality of MDCM students’ educational experience, Dr. Mondou will provide academic support for the new curriculum management system (myMDCM) and communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders about the UGME Program. She will participate as a member ex-officio of the MDCM Program Committee, the UGME Operations Committee and the McGill Montréal-Outaouais Committee, and will chair the new UGME Prize Nominating Subcommittee.
