Celebrating the Certificates of the Class of 2016

2016-2017 Issue 1

IMG_4239Tuesday, August 3 was special for those completing a Professional Development Certificate in Digital Content and Community Management, Management Consulting or Project Management. Graduates from all three programs, as well as their friends, family and faculty, were invited to attend a graduation ceremony celebrating the completion of their studies.

The ceremony marked the first cohort of students graduating from the Management Consulting and Project Management programs.

“The academic accomplishments of our talented students is only the beginning,” says Inna Popova-Roche, director of Career and Professional Development Non-Credit Programs at McGill’s School of Continuing Studies. “Students are applying what they’ve learned in their programs to their current jobs, and having a Professional Development Certificate from McGill on their resume is opening new doors. We’re eager to see them continue to advance in their chosen career paths, and we’re very proud that our programs make a real difference in the lives of our students.”

The event was held on-campus and included attendee Howard Martin, graduating with a Professional Development Certificate in Digital Content and Community Management. Martin felt that the “hands on” and “practical” parts of the program were particularly beneficial, stating that he now feels “more confident in interviews. I now have skills that I didn’t before know I had.”

Aïda Lopes, another graduate from Digital Content and Community Management Certificate, cited “meeting new people and learning from experience,” as the most enjoyable part about the program. Her sentiment was echoed by fellow graduate Véronique Beaulieu-Fowler. “I really enjoyed meeting people who were doing similar things,” said Beaulieu-Fowler. “There’s no proven science to social media, so it was nice seeing what [my classmates] have tried, as well as learning from the professors.”

It was clear that the groups were close-knit, making it a celebratory atmosphere for all those in attendance.
