CAPE Summer Intensive Program

2016-2017 Issue 1

IMG_3750The Centre for Aerospace Professional Education (CAPE) held their 2016 Summer Intensive Professional Development Program in Aerospace – Best Practices in Aerospace Management from May 30 to June 3, 2016. The event kicked off on May 30th with an opening cocktail reception, where people mingled with soon-to-be classmates for the next few days. There was a distinctly buoyant atmosphere, and everyone looked excited for the week ahead. During the next five days, the participants engaged in course sessions led by industry professionals, and took a tour of the Bombardier Challenger Plant.

On June 3, the participants celebrated the conclusion of their program at a closing reception on McGill campus. Sarah and Fatima were both enthusiastic about their respective experiences, and Sarah stated that the program would be “great for someone new in this field.”

Mahdi praised the Program Management in Aerospace session, and said “[Peter Rosenthal] [as our] teacher was perfect. He used our energy to teach us. It was the best of the five days – I learned new things.”

Mehran cited the visit to Bombardier as his favourite part of the session. Mehran said he liked “the more practical side of the workshops,” adding that “the wine and cheese was great too”.

The reception, and the week itself, ended on a festive note after a piano was discovered in the lounge and an impromptu jam session broke out. One engineer showed off his impressive skills, earning himself the nickname “Piano Teacher” as he entertained his classmates.
