MCLL’s Christmas Classic

2013-2014 Issue 2

The McGill Community for Lifelong Learning (MCLL) held its annual holiday reading surrounded by close friends and white flurries. This year’s selection was Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales, read by Stratford and Shaw Festival actor Barry Baldaro.

The piece was a fitting choice, as it recounted past winters full of snow and “white as Lapland” while fat flakes swirled around McGill campus. Thomas was also appropriate, as this year marks the centennial of the writer’s birth. Originally written for radio in the 1940s, the piece remains one of his most popular works.

This special MCLL event was open to all members. Admission was free, and donations went to the Gazette Christmas Fund.
