SSMU Environment Committee

The Sandbox

envirocommThe SSMU Environment Committee is a volunteer-led group which seeks to represent sustainability-related interests to administration and facilitate education about environmental, social and economic sustainability on campus. Members of the Environment Committee support sustainability at McGill by communicating students’ concerns, building coalitions between student environmental groups, and promoting environmental groups to the campus community. In the past, the Committee has collaborated with Campus Crops, Sustainability Network, The Plate Club, the McGill Farmers Market, and the Environmental Residence Council among others.

The Environment Committee also organizes the annual SPOKES conference. SPOKES (which stands for ‘Students Pursuing Opportunities and Knowledge in Environment and Sustainability’) is a meeting place for existing and potential members of the sustainability community at McGill – it’s an opportunity to learn from others, chat about various resources available to sustainability-related groups, and brainstorm ideas for the future at panels and workshops. To learn more about EnviroComm, drop by their meetings on Monday evenings or check out their website at http://environmentssmu.wix.com/ssmuenvironment!
