There’s gold in them thar hills – and McGill alumnus David Palmer recently found a mother lode. Palmer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Probe Mines Limited, was named prospector of the year by the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada for his company’s discovery of the Borden Gold Project, an important new gold discovery in a previously unexplored area of Ontario.
Palmer returned to McGill in late March, to share his insights on prospecting and mining with McGill students and faculty, as part of a lecture series presented by McGill Student Chapter of the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) and the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences. The presentation, held in the Redpath Museum, was followed by a discussion period and a reception.
