CFI invests $4.2 million to boost 23 McGill research projects

At Laurentian University today, the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science, announced a total investment of $52 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund for 220 new infrastructure projects nationally. Among the 51 universities across the country with funded projects, McGill leads the pack with an impressive number—23 projects totaling $4.2 million—in this latest round of the funding competition.

McGill gets 15 CRCs, infrastructure funding

On Thursday, May 4, the Honorable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science, announced $126 million in funding for 142 new and renewed Canada Research Chairs at universities across Canada. Fifteen CRCs valued at $12 million went to McGill faculty.

A boost for cutting-edge research

The Canada Foundation for Innovation has awarded McGill researchers over $4.5 million for state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities. The funding will enable our world-class researchers to further innovate in areas as diverse as personalized medicine in the fight against ovarian cancer, 3D printing to generate artificial organs, developing responses to environmental pollution and manufacturing better devices for clean energy generation and storage.

McGill researchers to get CFI grants

Two McGill researchers have received federal grants through the CFI’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund. Both of McGill’s honourees will receive matching funds from the Quebec government.
