Today, the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) announced 80 new members to the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists, seven of which are McGill scholars. Honorees hail from a broad range of faculties: Arts, Science, Engineering, Management, and Medicine.
As announced today, twenty-five outstanding McGill researchers are being awarded Canada Research Chairs. McGill research projects that will benefit from the new funds include those investigating the genetics of pain and childhood disability, as well as the ecology of the Arctic and engineered quantum systems.
McGill will receive over $27 million from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) for a wide range of long-term research projects, including studies on the texture of foods and biomaterials; holographic approaches to black holes; the treatment of malaria; and research into the role of sleep in the intellectual development of children.
