Three SEU Unions sign new collective agreements

On Tuesday, April 12, McGill signed new collective agreements with three bargaining units represented by Service Employees Union (SEU) Local 800. Together, they represent 152 McGill employees.

MUNACA, McGill sign 3-year collective agreement

On Feb. 9, 2016, The McGill University Non-Academic Certified Association and McGill signed a new collective agreement. Negotiations between the union and the university took just four short months – a real achievement in the complex world of labour negotiations – and the new contract will be in place until Nov. 30, 2018.

New online orientation program

Employees now have a new way of finding out about McGill as one of the top universities in worldwide rankings and as one of Montreal’s major employer.  A new online orientation program for new employees is being rolled out this month.   It provides numerous links to programs and services throughout both campuses, making it quick and easy to find what you are looking for. It also offers the convenience of looking for information at your own convenience.

McGill’s postdoctoral fellows now unionized

McGill’s postdoctoral fellows received their accreditation from the Labour Relations Commission on June 9.  They become the third union represented by AMURE/PSAC, which already includes research associates and research assistants.

Start of negotiations with AGSEM invigilators

Negotiations with AGSEM invigilators started on June 12. The parties introduced their bargaining teams and shared their sets of proposals. A calendar of negotiations has been set with sessions scheduled this summer, until September.

Negotiations with AMUSE floor fellows now in conciliation

On May 27 and 29, the parties met for the first time in conciliation. The parties discussed the elements that are holding back the advancement of negotiations and agreed to reconvene on June 30 to continue discussions.
