Condolences to those touched by tragedy in Mecca

Posted on Thursday, September 24, 2015

McGill would like to express its most sincere condolences to anyone who has been touched by the tragic event near Mecca, where more than 700 people died in the crush of crowds taking part in the last major rite of the Hajj pilgrimage earlier today.

More than 860 pilgrims were injured in the incident, the worst in 25 years. Earlier this month, the collapse of a crane at the Grand Mosque killed more than 100 people.

In addition to our expression of deepest sympathy, the University takes this sad moment to remind students that we have a variety of counselling services available, including the McGill Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, located at Suite 2100 of the Brown Building, 3600 McTavish St. Counselling is also available through McGill Counselling Services, Suite 4200 in the Brown Building, as well as at the Macdonald Campus, at Suite CC1-124 in the Centennial Centre.
