Oct. 4: Community Engagement Day – 585 volunteers and counting!

Posted on Friday, September 6, 2013

Community-engagementMcGillians have answered the call for volunteers for tomorrow’s Community Engagement Day (CED) in a big way, with some 585 people having stepped forward to take part. Now the question is, can CED break the 600-volunteer mark?

CED, a project from the SEDE office, SSMU, the SPF, the Quartier d’Innovation, Student Housing and Hospitality Services and other partners, aims to celebrate and promote existing initiatives which connect McGill with the Montreal community.

During CED, more than 40 group activities will take place on campus and around the city to give students, staff, faculty and alumni the opportunity to contribute their time and learn about the social issues that community organizations address. Activities include public discussions, sitting volleyball, filming a sign language music video, community walking tours, urban gardening, mural painting, youth mentorship, and more. If you can’t make it on Oct 4, there are also activities on Oct. 5. For more information, and to register, click here. Have questions? Contact the coordinators at ced.sede@mcgill.ca.
