McGill Baja team has last laugh
The McGill Baja Racing team took top honours in its category at the Rochester World Challenge, the third and final event of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) annual competition series. The event took place June 6-9 at the Rochester Institute of Technology. It marked the first time the team had come away from an SAE competition with a victory. Prior to this year, the team had never even broken into the Top 10. That happened in May when they finished ninth at the SAE event in Bellingham, Washington.
The Team is comprised of 40 undergraduate Engineering students that come together to design and build a prototype offroad vehicle. It offers a chance for students to apply theory they learn in class to a real engineering problem. A car is built from scratch each year, using the experience from previous years to improve the prototype. The team’s goal is to help members increase their knowledge about design, project management, fabrication and teamwork.
