Feb. 12: David Milgaard to speak at Innocence McGill Conference

Innocence McGill will welcome David Milgaard and Peter Edwards as speakers for the group’s annual conference taking place on Feb. 12, 2013 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the McGill Faculty of Law.

A reception will follow immediately after the event.

In 1970, David Milgaard was sentenced to life in prison by a Saskatchewan court for a murder he did not commit. He was finally released in 1992 after spending 22 years behind bars. He will be sharing his story.

Peter Edwards is a journalist with the Toronto Star who has covered multiple wrongful convictions throughout his career. He is the co-author of Joyce Milgaard’s memoir A Mother’s Story: The Fight To Free My Son David and the author of The Bandido Massacre among others. He will be discussing wrongful convictions in Canada from a reporter’s perspective.
