Final flood update – Most buildings to reopen tomorrow

Posted on Wednesday, January 30, 2013

We have made progress with mopping up and cleaning up after the flooding from the McTavish Reservoir that continued until 2 a.m. today. As a result, we are happy to report that Wilson Hall and the Birks and James Administration Buildings will reopen as normal (except for their basements and some floors) tomorrow morning.

Occupants of the first and second floors of the James Building will receive separate instructions, given the need for a more complete assessment of water damage and the need to continue drying operations.

The Wong Engineering Building, 3534 University and the James Annex will remain closed and it is too early to determine when these spaces will be reopened. Classes will continue to be relocated as needed and information will be sent to staff and students. Relocation details will also be posted on the Reporter website.

This is the final message to the community on this subject. Further communication will take place with specific individuals or groups as needed. Thank you for your co-operation and your patience through this difficult time.

And thanks once again to all of you who pitched in and worked so hard to keep the University functioning as well as it has in recent days.
