McGill beef not part of E. coli recall

Posted on Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Some of you may be aware that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has again extended a health hazard warning about beef products from XL Foods of Alberta over concerns about possible dangerous E. coli contamination.  This meat is widely sold across the country, including in some Quebec stores. Mathieu Laperle, Director of Food and Hospitality Services for McGill, wants to reassure the University community that beef served and sold in food outlets under the supervision of McGill Food and Dining Services is safe. “We would like to reassure you that McGill Food and Dining Services does not use any beef produced by XL Foods. Our approved distributors and food providers have confirmed that they have not distributed this product in any of our locations, including at both campuses.  We take this issue seriously and we do everything we can to ensure the safety and quality of products to our customers.”
