Reporter website gets new look, special print issues planned

The McGill Reporter begins a new stage in its 44-year history this week with the first of four planned print issues for the year, with all other news and features heading online only at our newly revised website. You’re visiting it right now.

The move, announced last spring, allows The Reporter to concentrate its resources on up-to-the-minute online news coverage of events and developments at McGill, while also delivering news and information on Twitter at @McGillREPORTER. It also saves trees.

New blog

We expect to have new news or features up on our website daily and we’ll Tweet when we do. We’ll also launch a blog, called What’s New@McGill, to keep you even more up to date with campus events.

Note, too, that comments will be welcome on Reporter stories posted to the website.

Comments will be moderated; we ask that everyone keep it clean and refrain from personal attacks.

We also want to hear from you, not only about our changes, but about what we’re putting online every day.

You can send us your views through the blog or to neale.mcdevitt@mcgill.ca

Special coverage

Our other print issues will appear in early- to mid-November, celebrating fall Convocation and other events; early in March; and in early June, celebrating spring Convocation.

And this promises to be an interesting year, with a number of major conferences and speakers already lined up, the conclusion of Campaign McGill and the announcement of a new Principal, who will take office on July 1, 2013.

So stay with us, check our website daily, follow the blog, follow us on Twitter and get ready for even more timely news and features than we’ve been able to provide before.
