Third Annual Christie Bike Ride
The Third Annual Christie Bike Ride, an annual event organized by McGill law students to fundraise for and promote awareness of access to justice issues, is coming up on Sept.10. The Ride will bring together new and returning law students, professors and staff from the Faculty of Law as well as members of the broader community. The Ride is named in honour of Dugald Christie, a Vancouver lawyer who offered legal services to low-income people and set up several pro-bono clinics across western Canada. In 2006 Christie began biking across Canada to raise awareness about the inadequacies of legal assistance programs in Canada. Tragically, four months into his campaign, he was struck and killed by a van.
This year, proceeds are going to the Mile End Legal Clinic. Registration is $10 with a minimum of $50 in pledges.
Third Annual Christie Community Bike Ride: Saturday, Sept. 10, at 9 a.m. from the McGill campus. To register, or for more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
