Posted on Thursday, February 3, 2011

Last year’s earthquake in Haiti killed nearly 1,300 teachers, leaving a massive void in educational leadership. Sharon Ravitch, a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, put together a team of researchers to launch an educational-redevelopment project aimed at helping to rebuild the country’s academic infrastructure. On Mon., Feb. 7, Ravitch will discuss her team’s interventions and goals in a lecture sponsored by McGill’s Faculty of Education.

Sharon Ravitch (University of Pennsylvania): Funds of Knowledge in Haiti: A Story of Possibilities. Mon.,  Feb. 7, 5 to 7 p.m. 3715 Peel St. (The Coach House) Room 200. The Coach House, located just North of the Faculty of Education (3700 McTavish) is accessed by a path that cuts between McTavish and Peel St. The entrance door is the first one coming from Peel St.
