Join The Neuro Team and “Walk for Montreal” to inaugurate new MUHC Glen site!

The Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital will join Mayor Denis Coderre and thousands of other Montrealers on Saturday, June 20, 2015 to kick off the inauguration of the McGill University Health Centre’s (MUHC) new Glen site. We will walk alongside a cross-section of the community, including MUHC and McGill colleagues, Montreal business leaders, community groups, schools, media personalities, sports celebrities and many others. The 3-km walk will start at Dawson College at 10 a.m. and end at the new hospital.

All those who register will also be invited to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony and a live concert with performances by the Sam Roberts Band and Stéphanie Lapointe on the Evenko stage. The MUHC’s inauguration celebrations continue on Sunday, June 21, with a Community Festival on the grounds of the Glen site. All proceeds from the inauguration will be used to equip the 200 family rooms in the new hospital with comfortable furniture, pillows, quilts and blankets.

Visit to sign up. A registration fee of $5 will be requested, giving you access to the ceremony and live concert. To sign up for the Neuro Team, click on the “Join a Team” link and enter “Neuro Team” in the empty field. More information about the hospital’s inauguration festivities is available at:

Scotia Run

The annual Scotiabank Charity Challenge took place on the morning of April 26 at Parc Jean-Drapeau. The Neuro’s team consisted of more than 73 runners and 23 fundraisers, and together we raised just over $26,000 to support The Neuro’s essential programs and services! A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped us surpass our goal – we look forward to running, jogging, and walking with you again next year!

In memory of her father Pierre Côté who lost his battle with brain cancer last November, Anne-Josée Côté and her team will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in August in order to raise funds to further brain cancer research and encourage the development of exciting new treatments for patients. Pink in the City

Thank you to Lisa Taddeo, Denise Vourtzoumis, and the entire organizing committee of the Pink in the City Spring Charity Ball! This year, on top of raising $100,000 for the Cedars Breast Clinic at the MUHC, this fabulous annual event also contributed $25,000 to Dr. Kevin Petrecca’s lab at The Neuro in memory of Konstantinos Yanakoulias who passed away of a brain tumour last year.

Monaco Golf Tournament

Thank you to Groupe Monaco, who on June 8th will hold the 24th edition of their annual golf tournament to benefit local health care institutions. A portion of the proceeds from this wonderful event will benefit The Neuro and support important research on ataxias as well as fund clinical care for ataxia patients.
