On June 7, the Faculty of Medicine held its most recent Faculty Council and Town Hall Meeting in the Martin Amphitheatre in the McIntyre Medical Building. After the routine order of business presented by Dr. David Eidelman, Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, a series of presentations were given, kicked-off by Dr. Guillaume Bourque, Director of Bioinformatics at the McGill University & Genome Quebec Innovation Center, who spoke about the new McGill Initiative in Computational Medicine. Dr. Anne McKinney, Associate VP (Innovation & Research) followed with an update on the Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives initiative before Dr. Shari Baum, Associate Dean, Research, provided an overview of the guidelines for the allocation of research space within the Faculty.

Following the three presentations Dr. Eidelman took the opportunity to deliver a state of the faculty address, providing highlights of the past year before presenting an in-depth explanation as how the budget of the Faculty of Medicine works. An overview was provided of Project Renaissance, the Faculty’s new strategic planning exercise with an update on the individual planning that will feed into the larger overall plan. The meeting concluded with a recap of some of the recent awards and recognitions received by faculty, staff and students of the Faculty of Medicine.
