What Tripe ! The lack of transparency on the part of the MUHC over the years is galling in the extreme. I , and my family have ben associated with the Montreal General for over 100 years. Governance by fiat and cabal has only occurred since the so-called superhospital came up. This must stop immediately. There were ample grounds to dismiss Dr. Porter with cause and save money and all this PR palaver. If I hadn't become used to these actions by the MUHC I would be waxing wrath. This is no way to run a public institution
as ever

Félicitations Jim !
So well-deserved indeed! You have always put so much energy and interest in teaching and supervising. It's an honor for those who have been your students.
After being your PhD student, it is now my turm to teach and supervise. My wish is to be able to offer students as much as you did to yours : availability, expertise, confidence, and much more.
Again, congratulations to you.

Congratulations to Ms Penny Chipman for her articulate conversation promoting the center today on CJAD radio.

We were totally unaware that such an institution existed in Montreal and are pleased to know that there are alternatives, should we need assistance with a related problem in the future.

Thanks again, Penny
Shirley Hill,
Lasalle, Qc.

This award endorses what many of us have felt about you. I have had the privilege of being your student and you are certainly the best. I believe the honor is very well deserved and you deserve many more awards. This is a much earned recognition for the enormous work you put into being a great professor.
The best will always be recognized

This recognition of Jim’s talent as a teacher is so well deserved! His enthusiasm and commitment to teaching statistics to all who are interested never wavers. I also had the pleasure of chatting with Jim over lunch at the Epi Congress recently and can attest to the fact that he is as passionate about stats as he was when I was a student at McGill in the 1990s. I am sure that he will continue to inspire students for years to come! Congrats Jim!

Couldn't happen to a nicer person or a better teacher. Jim taught me applied statistics in 1988-9 and was on my PhD thesis committee. His kindness and dedication to his students has always and consistently been front and center. I had the opportunity to have a really fun conversation with Jim recently at a reception at the Epi Congress held in Montreal this past June and his grad students were there in force - active as ever. Congratulations Jim!

I am happy to read about a Japanese researcher doing innovative work for cancer research in Canada, my home country. I would like to know if Dr. Yamanaka has information he could share about treatment for Adult t-cell leukemia. My father-in-law, in Miyazaki, Japan is undergoing treatment for it and sometimes we wonder if techniques in Japan are of the same quality as in Canada. Any suggestions or reassurances would be welcome!

Best wishes,
Melodie
