From the Dean

December 2017

Dean Anja Geitmann

Another very successful Homecoming has come and gone. One of the privileges of being Dean is that I get to meet so many of our alumni, and hear stories about how Macdonald shaped their lives. Your ties and commitment to Macdonald run strong. This was evidenced at the Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry’s 30th Anniversary Symposium. Spearheaded by Anton Angelich, BSc(FSc)’73, and one of this year’s recipients of a Distinguished Alumni Award, Food Science alumni presented the Department with a cheque to support student endeavours, internships and travel to conferences and competitions. It is support like this that sustains the excellence that is this faculty and its programs.

This year, Macdonald College celebrated 110 years since its founding. Even today, we are still fulfilling Sir William’s goal of “Mastery for Service,” touching the lives of communities all over the globe. It is a goal worth striving for. Macdonald’s future is both worthwhile and rewarding. Your annual gifts are essential to our continued ability to offer programs that engage and challenge our students, pushing them to excel both academically and in the greater community. It is gratifying to see how much we can accomplish when we work together towards a shared vision of Macdonald.

With 2018 just around the corner, on behalf of all the faculty, staff and students at Macdonald, I take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the coming year, and thank you for your continued support and investment in this place that means so much to all of us.
