Status on finalizing new collective agreement with MUNACA
On February 17, the University and MUNACA met with the conciliator to discuss pending issues relating to: 1) the positioning of
employees who are promoted or demoted now that salary scales will have defined steps starting in June; 2) employees whose salary is higher than the current salary scale maximum for the level of their position. These two issues on which the parties fail to agree are causing delays in signing the new collective agreement. Read more »

McGill University Non-Academic Certified Association (MUNACA)

On December 5, MUNACA members voted in favour of a new collective agreement by a margin of 72%. Highlights include a five-year contract that is valid until November 30, 2015; the gradual implementation of a salary scale by 2015; salary increases varying from 8.6% to 16% over five years, depending on whether an employee is at the maximum of his/her scale or not; decision-making rights on benefits, and having a say before changes are made to the pension plan. September-October 2011

AGSEM invigilators and McGill have been meeting in conciliation since April. This summer, the Union brought in a new spokesperson from the Confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN) to which AGSEM is affiliated. More recently, the Labour Commission replaced its conciliator, causing some minor delays, but moving forward. The union is negotiating its first collective agreement.

Negotiations with MUNACA got under way in February. Agreements have been reached on grievances and disagreement procedures. Now, all employees must speak to their supervisor before filing a grievance. Discussions were also held on job postings and what constitutes a fair staffing process. Read more »
