Engineering helps make the world environmentally sound

A state-of-the art teaching and research facility on the fifth floor of the Macdonald Engineering Building is significantly advancing our Faculty’s ability to tackle major challenges in environmental engineering.The laboratory space is a gift from alumni husband-and-wife team Andrew Benedek and Diana Mourato-Benedek.

A Faculty on the move needs annual donor support to ensure success

Our students and professors rely on annual philanthropic support to pay for necessities that are not funded through government grants and tuition fees. At present 13 per cent of alumni make these annual gifts; 87 per cent do not. Annual alumni gifts are used for such things as scholarships, fellowships, internships and job counseling services to help students succeed after graduation.

ISEAD & MIAE join proud list of Engineering Faculty institutes

Two institutes were established recently in areas of strategic importance to the Faculty of Engineering: the Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (ISEAD) and the McGill Institute for Aerospace Engineering (MIAE). Among other things, the institutes enhance teaching, improve employment opportunities for students and serve as windows on the world for McGill Engineering.

Annual Fund gifts are the lifeblood of innovation

Alumni often ask if I’ve heard about a remarkable new program at university x, y or z, or perhaps inquire if we’re considering doing such-and-such to better prepare students for the job market. My answer to both questions is almost always “yes, but we lack funds right now to set the program in motion.”
