Je vois Montréal – en grand!

2014-december-voir-montreal-rapporteurs-2159On November 17, a team of Law students spent the day at Place des Arts in downtown Montreal, helping facilitate an ambitious event designed to examine the future of the city.

je vois mtl was an event that brought together more than 1,500 citizens to discuss how to lend vitality to the city of Montreal. More than 100 representatives who lead and direct community groups gathered to develop their project ideas and then share with and get feedback from the assembled public.

The McGill Law students who took part as rapporteurs were responsible for helping develop the projects in the lead up to the November 17 event, and then moderating discussions and acting as a connection point between the community groups and the je vois mtl event organizers during the event itself.

As one participant, Helen Kneale, explains, “Le 17 novembre dernier, j’ai eu la chance de prendre part à un moment peut-être historique, un moment où des Montréalaises et des Montréalais ont décidé de prendre en main leur ville et de s’engager de façon concrète pour l’améliorer.”
