Two members of the Faculty amongst McGill researchers getting $4.7M in NSERC project grants

Photo Mcgill_wo The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) announced 78 Strategic Project Grants, including 10 for McGill University researchers totaling nearly $4.7 million. 2 of these researchers are from the Faculty of Dentistry and have received funding to help support research or training with the potential to strongly enhance the economy or the environment. Dr. Michael Wiseman visits the White House to launch pilot project

MWcrop Dr. Michael Wiseman, Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Dentistry, visited the White House to launch The Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program. The pilot initiative will provide free oral health care to Holocaust survivors. Dr. Wiseman is the Montreal Alpha Omega representative for the pilot project. Read more…

Nancy Scholefield creates the first impression for patients arriving at the clinic

Photo credit: Ioana DumitruNancy Scholefield will be celebrating 14 years with the Faculty of Dentistry in March. She joined McGill after a long career as a flight attendant. Welcoming patients was natural for her after all of her customer service experience. Every day she goes above and beyond her duties as Receptionist to offer a caring environment for patients making them feel at ease. When she is not manning the front desk of the Undergraduate Teaching Clinic she loves to cook gourmet meals, have a glass of wine and travel to warm destinations. Read more…

For PhD student Mohamed Nur Abdallah is all about good time management

_MG_8421edited Currently a 3rd year PhD student, Mohamed juggles his time between his research, his TA responsibilities, chairing the annual Dentistry Research Day and being the Student Representative of the Network for Canadian Oral Health Research (NCOHR). Half Jordanian, half Greek-Cypriot, Mohamed has mastered not only three languages but three different alphabets! Dimitra Athanasiadou National Hellenic Student Association Scholarship

Dimitra Athanasiadou Congratulations to Dimitra Athanasiadou for being awarded the National Hellenic Student Association Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to Greek-Canadian scientists that excelled in their studies. Dimitra, a PhD student in Dr. Marc McKee’s lab, won the scholarship for the work she is doing in Craniofacial Health Sciences. Read more…
